In a recent study of 1,000 Americans, Pizza Hut found that 28% of participants said thin crust is their favorite type of pizza. Here are some of the reasons people lean into thin or tavern crust rather than gourmet.

TEXTURE
People like the texture of thin crusts. Thin crust or tavern crusts give pizzas a great crunch and crack to pizza. Tavern crusts give a nice contrast between the toppings in each bite. The sturdy nature of tavern crusts also allows for various toppings without them all falling off.

TASTE
Because the tavern crust is naturally thinner and crispy, it often adds a smoky flavor to the pizza people love. This adds to the flavor of the overall pizza rather than the flavor of the crust overpowering the rest of the ingredients.

VARIETY
Because of the sturdiness of a tavern crust, a lot of variety can be added. This can include different ingredients and different ways to cut the pizza. One popular way to cut a thin-crust pizza is in squares rather than the traditional triangles. People have been found to love this because it allows people who may not be fans of plain crust to have pieces without the outer crust.
